Women's Fencing Goes Undefeated

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The MIT women's fencing team closed Northeast Fencing Conference action with a 5-0 performance at Brown University this past weekend. Victories over Boston College (19-8), Dartmouth College (22-5), Brandeis University (21-6), Smith College (21-6), and the host Bears (14-13), lifted the Engineers to a 10-0 mark in conference action.

Tech's foil team dominated the competition, sweeping Smith and finishing with an overall record of 37-8. Susannah Dorfman finished with a 12-1 mark while Gemma Mendel was 11-2. Nancy Hua totaled a record of 9-3 as KaWai Lui went 5-2.

Lynn Wang, Drew Reese and Shauna Jin posted an impressive showing for the sabre squad. Wang led the charge with an 11-3 mark while Drew Reese registered a ledger of 10-1. Jin finished with a 10-3 record.

Christalee Bieber anchored an epee squad that saw each of its members finish with a winning record. Bieber posted a 9-5 mark while Nicole Koulisis went 7-5. Lele Yu recorded an even ledger of 6-6 while Lauren Leung notched a mark of 3-2.
