Cordelia Link Qualifies for NCAA Fencing Championship

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - This past weekend, the MIT women's fencing team competed in the NCAA Northeast Regional hosted by Tufts University. Freshman Cordelia Link placed second in the foil competition, which earned her a spot at the NCAA Championship meet to be held March 22-24 at Drew University in Madison, N.J. The rookie went 7-2 on the day with both of her losses coming from the No. 1 and No. 6 finishers from St. John's University. She upended Division I foes from Columbia, Harvard, and Yale while defeating a fellow Division III rival from NYU.
Also representing the Engineers in foil action were Lindley Graham (20th place) and Nancy Hua (21st). Yushin Chen paced the sabre squad with a career-best 19th place finish while Heather Pressler took 32nd and Laura Evans finished three spots behind her. As MIT's lone epee participant, Stephanie Shin placed 20th.
