Field Hockey Rolls Past Gordon, 5-0

WENHAM, Mass. – The MIT field hockey team
traveled to Gordon College on Wednesday night and came away with a
5-0 non-conference victory at the Brigham Athletic Complex. Kimberly
Barker led the way with a pair of tallies as the Engineers
moved to 5-1 on the season. Gordon falls to 0-5 with the loss.
Jessica
Oleinik got MIT on the board in the ninth minute when she beat
Scots goalkeeper Anna Bury from close range. Barker added two
unassisted goals before halftime to give MIT a 3-0 lead at the
break. MIT outshot Gordon 10-0 in the first half.
In the second half, Kameron
Klauber scored on a penalty stroke and Danielle
Smith rounded out the scoring with a marker in the 68th minute.
Tech held Gordon to just three shots all night, only one of which
came on goal, as Keri Dixon
and freshman Casey
Landry combined for the shutout. Bury posted 9 saves for the
Fighting Scots.
MIT hosts Clark University in its New England Women's and Men's
Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener on Sunday afternoon at 1:00
p.m. Gordon will travel to Nashua, N.H. to face Rivier at 7:00 p.m.
on Thursday night.
