CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - A pair of early goals by Rebecca Capute helped power Smith College to a 3-0 win over MIT in the NEWMAC opener for both teams. With the win, the Pioneers improved to 2-4 on the year while the Engineers fell to 3-5.
Capute tallied her first goal 30 seconds into the contest with an assist from Anika Goodhue. Smith extended its advantage three minutes later when Capute converted a rebound off of MIT's Alexa Herman. The Pioneers capped the scoring with 16:54 left in the frame on a goal from Goodhue that was set up by Kim Wronski.
In net, Herman collected 13 saves as her ledger dropped to 3-5 on the year.
