Box Score

NORTON, Mass. - Two second-half goals by Ashley Miller lifted Wheaton College to a 4-2 win over MIT on Tuesday in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) field hockey action. The Lyons capped the regular season with a 12-5 record and a 6-2 conference mark while the Engineers' ledger moved to 4-12 on the year and 1-7 in the NEWMAC.

MIT opened the scoring after 5:14 elapsed on a blast by Jessica Oleinik that was set up by Lauren McCarthy. Wheaton tallied the equalizer with 3:27 remaining before halftime, as Lyndsie Ryalls sent a shot on the MIT net that trickled past netminder Alexa Herman and several defenders trying to make a goal-line stop.

Miller's penalty stroke to the bottom right corner of the net put the Lyons ahead, 2-1, in the 44th minute. After a shot by Sara Dimick was saved by Herman, Miller picked up the rebound and found the right corner at the 60:24 mark. Dimick notched Wheaton's final goal with 7:09 remaining when she one-timed Alex Block's pass. The Engineers continued to attack, finding success with 29 seconds left. Oleinik posted her 11th tally of the season by converting a cross from Cristina Stefanescu.

Cameron Abel did not make a save in earning her 12th win of the year for Wheaton. Herman collected 11 saves for the Engineers.

Next up for MIT will be a NEWMAC Championship Tournament quarterfinal game on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 1:00 p.m. at top-seeded Babson College.
