SPRINGFIELD, MASS. - Alisha Miner scored two goals to propel Springfield College past MIT, 5-0, in NEWMAC action on Saturday. The loss snapped the Engineers' five-game winning streak, the program's longest since the 1998 season.
The Pride (15-3, 7-0 NEWMAC) opened the scoring eight minutes into the first half with a goal from Amber Pardee off a feed from Lydia Grant. Miner would then net her first goal of the game three minutes later. Kim Stevens added a goal after another three minutes had expired thanks to another set-up pass from Grant. Miner would close out the first-half scoring for Springfield with 8:27 remaining.
Eileen Jenkins registered the only goal of the second half for the Pride, which was her first career tally.
Lindsey Pardue stopped four shots in goal, and was credited with her sixth shutout of the season. MIT (9-6, 4-3 NEWMAC) goalkeeper Alexa Herman stopped 15 shots in goal on the afternoon.
