Field Hockey Produces Three All-Region Selections

CAMRBIDGE, Mass. - A year after becoming the first MIT field hockey player to earn All-Region honors since Theresa Power was tabbed in 1998 and 1999, senior Deanna Lentz was again named to the New England East Region First-Team. Also receiving honors in the announcement of the 2005 Dartfish/NFHCA Division III All-Region Team today was senior Cheryl Texin and junior Anna Ayuso. Texin and Ayuso both were named to the Second-Team for the first time.

In four years with MIT, Lentz compiled 34 goals (T-fifth) and 24 assists (T-second) for 92 career points (T-second). Texin totaled 14 goals and 16 assists (T-fifth) for 44 career points, while adding five defensive saves. Ayuso, still with one year remaining, has produced 16 goals and 16 assists for 48 career points. She had a breakout season for the Engineers this year, totaling eight goals and eight assists for a career-high 24 points, up from four goals and three assists in the 2004 season.
