Bowens-Rubin, Kazmierski Earn ECAC East Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Following MIT's successful weekend on the ice in which it defeated Plymouth State University (3-1) and tied Castleton State College (2-2), Rachel Bowens-Rubin was named the ECAC East Goalie of the Week while Lauren Kazmierski was selected to the conference's Honor Roll.

Bowens-Rubin recorded 61 saves, a .953 save percentage, and a goals against average of 1.44 for the Engineers. Against Plymouth State, she totaled 15 saves and earned the first victory of her intercollegiate career. The next day, she stopped 46 shots including all 17 she faced during the final 25 minutes of play.

Lauren Kazmierski collected the program's second Honor Roll selection


Kazmierski earned the assist for MIT's first goal at Plymouth State. Against the Spartans, she recorded the opening goal of the contest and then set up the equalizer during a power-play with 30 seconds left in regulation.

The Engineers will wrap up the regular season with a home-and-home series against Salve Regina University. MIT will host the Seahawks on Friday, Feb. 22 while Salve Regina will do the same the next day with both games slated for a 7:00 p.m. start.
