BABSON PARK, Mass. – The MIT women's lacrosse team maintained its annual presence on the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference team as senior Laura Wacker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned a spot on the first team while classmate Meghan Wright (Devon, Pa.) was voted to the second team. The selections for the first-time honorees mark the 19th consecutive year the Engineers have received at least one award.
Wacker graduates as MIT's all-time leader in career goals (146) and set the Institute standard for goals in a game with 10 against Eastern Connecticut State University on April 18. In addition, her 52 goals this season ties the MIT record established by Casey Flynn '10 in 2009. Wacker finished her career with 146 points to rank fifth on the top-10 list while her 61 career draw controls place her at 10th. Within the NEWMAC, she was third in goals and seventh in points (58) this year.
Wright was second in the conference in groundballs (46), third in caused turnovers (19), 14th in goals (33) and draw controls (33), and 16th in points (42). She closes her career tied for seventh for groundballs in a season and a career (109) along with career draw controls (73). Wright's 19 caused turnovers this year puts her tied for 10th in caused turnovers for a season in the MIT recordbook.
