Westwood, Mass. (April 2) – MIT senior Emily Young (La Jolla, Calif.) was tabbed for NEWMAC Women's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week honors as announced by the league on Monday. In a 2-1 week for the Engineers, she tallied 14 goals, six assists, 20 points, and 20 draw controls while breaking a pair of program records.
Young kicked things off last Monday by posting four goals, three assists, and nine draw controls in a 17-13 win over Bridgewater College. Two days later, she registered a natural hat trick to go along with one assist and four draw controls in a 21-12 loss at Roanoke College. During the game, Young broke MIT's career goals record which was previously 188. On Saturday, she amassed seven goals, two assists, and seven draw controls in a 19-4 victory over Mount Holyoke College. In addition, Young broke MIT's career points record which was previously 248.
The Engineers (3-5) return to action on Tuesday, April 3 with a 6:30 p.m. game at Bridgewater State University.
