Westwood, Mass. (May 1) –The MIT women's lacrosse team saw a program-record and league-high 11 student-athletes receive NEWMAC Academic All-Conference accolades as announced by the league last week. The list is comprised of 47 student-athletes who earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or 4.35 on a 5.0 scale after the 2017 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the team for the entire season.
Senior Eva Boal (Princeton Junction, N.J.) received her third award while fellow classmates Allison Kaslow (Lithia, Fla.), Katie Notarangelo (Foxboro, Mass.), and Jack Simmons (Houston, Texas) along with juniors Shannon Francis (Houston, Texas) and Lucy Halperin (Seattle, Wash.) were repeat honorees. Senior Hind Saleh (Bethesda, Md.), junior Ana Flooks (Weston, Conn.), and sophomores Rayna Higuchi (Solana Beach, Calif.), Sydney LaPorte (Baltimore, Md.), and Emily Ryeom (New York, N.Y.) made the list for the first time.
MIT (11-5, 7-1 NEWMAC) returns to action on Saturday, May 5 as the No. 2 seed of the NEWMAC Championship Tournament. The Engineers will face either No. 3 Springfield College or No. 6 Smith College in a semifinal match-up at 3:00 p.m. at top-seeded Babson College.
