CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT women's soccer will start the 2013 season ranked 15th out of 25 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III preseason ranking that was released on Tuesday. This is the first time in the program's 28 year history that it has appeared on the preseason rankings list.

After receiving an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, the Engineers advanced over Haverford College in penalty kicks, 4-2, marking the first time the team had made it past the first round. The next day, MIT defeated The College of New Jersey in double overtime, 1-0, making history for the second time in two days with the program's first tournament victory.

In its first ever Sweet Sixteen appearance, MIT fell to eventual national champion Messiah College, the current leader of the preseason rankings. The Engineers ended their season with a record of 14-4-3.

MIT will start the 2013 campaign against a familiar foe, facing Brandeis University in the season-opener for the 10th time in 11 years. The action kicks off on the road on Friday, August 30 at 6:00 p.m.
