KANSAS CITY, Kan. – MIT's men's and women's soccer teams earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic, it was announced on Thursday.
A total of 862 soccer teams (269 men, 593 women) across all three divisions posted a team grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher, thus earning the award. MIT was just one of 182 institutions that had both the men's and women's programs recognized.
Tech's men posted a combined GPA of 3.45, while the women registered a 3.40. MIT was the only institution in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) to have both the men's and the women's soccer programs earn the award.
