CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Junior Ambika Krishnamachar (Darien, Conn.) and senior Rachel Dias Carlson (Albany, N.Y.) were selected to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Women's Soccer All-Star First Team on Friday evening. Krishnamachar was one of four forwards and Dias Carlson was one of six midfielders named to the team. Only five other Engineers have earned this honor, the last ones being Emily Kuo '13 and Andrea Park '13 at the end of the 2012 season.
Appearing in and starting all 21 games this season, Krishnamachar was voted the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Athlete of the Year following her conference-leading 11 goals and four assists for 26 points, also earning a spot on the All-Conference first team. Most recently, she was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-New England North First Team and became the third MIT women's soccer player in program history to be named an NSCAA All-American, being tabbed to the third team.
Dias Carlson played in and started all but one game throughout her senior season, scoring three goals and a team-leading six assists for 12 points. She was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team for the third consecutive year and was one of six midfielders selected to the play in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl earlier this month. She was also selected to the NSCAA All-New England North Fourth Team.
