BOSTON, Mass. – For the first time in her career, MIT junior Morgan Moroi (New Albany, Ohio) was named New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior Morgan Moroi (New Albany, Ohio) recorded one goal and one assist as MIT claimed their first New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) victory with a 2-1 win over Springfield College on Saturday afternoon.

MIT Draws A 1-1 Tie With WPI In NEWMAC Opener
WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman Olivia Struckman‘s (Scottsdale, Ariz.) goal in the 74th minute helped MIT overcome a one-goal deficit mid-way through the second half and secure a 1-1 double-overtime tie with WPI in both teams’ New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener on Saturday morning at Alumni Stadium. Struckman recorded her fourth strike of the season following a cross from senior Ambika Krishnamachar (Darrien, Conn.) on the left side of the field.

MIT, Roger Williams Play To A 1-1 Tie
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second year in a row, MIT and Roger Williams University concluded their match in 1-1 tie on Tuesday afternoon at Roberts Field at Steinbrenner Stadium. MIT junior Morgan Moroi (New Albany, Ohio) netted her initial goal of the season at 3:29 following a pass from senior Ashley Peter (Manhasset, N.Y.) before Roger Williams countered with a strike by junior Haley Carignan (Scarborough, Maine) roughly six minutes later.

Double-Overtime Goal Lifts No. 9 Williams Past. No 15 MIT, 3-2
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Williams College sophomore Audrey Thomas (Bellevue, Wash.) netted two goals, including the game-winner in double-overtime at 108:31 as the No. 9 Ephs defeated No. 15 MIT, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at Cole Field. Thomas located the back of the Engineers’ goal on her team’s ninth shot of the second overtime period following a pass from junior Mai Mitsuyama.

Late Goal Lifts Lesley Past No. 15 MIT, 2-1
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University senior Hannah Landerholm’s (Edmonds, Wash.) header at 74:03 in the second half provided the visitor’s with the lead for good as the Lynx claimed a 2-1 non-conference win over No. 15 MIT on Friday evening at Roberts Field at Steinbrenner Stadium. The victory marks the first time Lesley has defeated MIT since their series commenced in 2010. MIT and Lesley have concluded their last two matches in ties, while Tech’s last victory against the Lynx came in 2011.

No. 15 MIT Falls To Tufts, 4-0
MEDFORD, Mass. – Four different members of the Tufts University women’s soccer team scored one goal, while freshman Mariah Harvey-Brown (Mill Valley, Calif.) registered two assists as the Jumbos defeated MIT, 4-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Kraft Field. MIT and Tufts both finished with 12 shots, but the Jumbos held an advantage in corners, eight to two.

No. 25 MIT Tops Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 1-0
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the third time this season, MIT’s women soccer team, which ranked 25th in the nation and third in the region in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll, earned a one-goal victory as the Engineers defeated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 1-0, on Sunday morning at Roberts Field at Steinbrenner Stadium. The Engineers and Athena’s were originally scheduled to face-off on Saturday, September 6 at 7:00 p.m., but due to inclement weather the game was postponed to this morning.

Lauren Ullmann Named NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week
BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Ullmann (Princeton, N.J.) was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. This is the second time in Ullmann’s career that she received this particular honor.

Second Half Surge Lifts #25 MIT Past Worcester State
WORCESTER, Mass. – MIT’s women’s soccer team, ranked 25th in the nation and third in the region in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll, received three second half goals from senior co-captain Ambika Krishnamachar (Darrien, Conn.) and freshmen Julia Goupil (Los Altos, Calif.) and Olivia Struckman (Scottsdale, Ariz.) to secure a 4-0 non-conference win against Worcester State University on Tuesday evening.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior Jennifer Ibanez (West Windsor, N.J.) scored the game’s lone goal with 5:04 remaining in the second overtime period to provide MIT’s women’s soccer team with a 1-0 a non-conference victory against RPI on Saturday afternoon at Roberts Field at Steinbrenner Stadium.

WALTHAM, Mass. – Freshman Olivia Struckman (Scottsdale, Ariz.) netted the game’s lone goal – her first as a member of MIT’s women’s soccer team at 12:20 in the opening session that provided the Engineers with a 1-0 non-conference season opening victory against Brandeis University on Friday evening.

Women's Soccer Announces 2014-15 Freshman Class
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Nine incoming freshmen will be added to the roster of the MIT women’s soccer team this fall, as announced by head coach Martin Desmarais. The Engineers are coming off a 13-2-6 campaign in 2013 and earned a share of the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season crown for the second consecutive season.
