CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT softball team will once again travel to the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla. for its annual spring break training trip during the week of March 24-30. While in Florida, the Engineers will play 10 games and get in one practice while escaping the harsh winter of New England for a more seasonable climate.
The Cardinal and Gray will open its trip on Saturday, March 24 with games against Thomas College, at 2:00 p.m., and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 4:00 p.m. Tech will then play its first of three games against Middlebury College on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and follow that up with a matchup against Oberlin College at 11:00 a.m.
Regional foe, Williams College, is on the slate for Monday, March 26 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a second tilt with Middlebury. Tech will take on University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Mount Mercy College on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., respectively. The trip wraps up with a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 28, playing DePauw University at 9:30 a.m. and finishing with a third crack at Middlebury at 11:30 a.m.
The Engineers' 2012 campaign opens up against Simmons College at home on Wednesday, March 14 before the squad heads south. Upon return, MIT will open up New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play against Wellesley College on Friday, March 30 in a home doubleheader.
