Softball Introduces Freshman Class

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT softball team will welcome three new members for the 2013 season. "We are pleased and excited to welcome Alex, Tori, and Alexandra to the MIT softball program, and look forward to their contribution over the next four years," said head coach Jen Williams.

Alex Burgess (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford)
Centerfield...two-time MVC all-star...MVC all-conference...had second highest batting average in MVC in 2011...named to ESPN MIAA "Starting Nine" in 2012...was also a letterwinner for indoor track and field...played for Baystate Bandits...National Honor Society...will be majoring in brain and cognitive sciences.

Tori Jensen (Holliston, Mass./Holliston)
First base...three-time Tri-Valley League all-star...Honors Athlete Award...Rookie of the Year...Slugger of the Year...The Boston Herald 2012 Preseason "Dream Team" first baseman for Division II...three-time letterwinner...also played volleyball...two-year captain for 18U New England Phoenix Gold and played 12U-18U with Central MassThunder...National Honor Society junior officer...Brown Book Award...Principal's List...AP Physics Award...Massachusetts' Girl's State Award...Science Engineering and Technology Award...AP U.S. History Award...major is undecided.

Alexandra Marshall (Glen Head, N.Y./North Shore)
Pitcher...two-time all-county...all-conference...conference champions in 2010 and 2011...set the school record for strikeouts in a season with 225...also earned all-county and all-conference honors as a member of the bowling team...eight-time varsity letterwinner...National Honor Society...Science Honor Society...Foreign Language Honor Society...president of the Mathletes Club...completed a competitive science research internship at Cold Spring Harbor National Laboratory...major is undecided.
