MIT Softball Collects NFCA Academic Recognition

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT softball team was recently recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for posting the second-highest cumulative grade point average among all Division III teams during the 2011-12 academic year. The Engineers recorded a 3.589 GPA and finished behind Fontbonne University and Emerson College in the standings, who tied for first with a 3.59 GPA.

MIT was seventh in the NCAA across the three divisions. Robert Morris University led all teams with a 3.609 mark.

The NFCA Academic Awards program honors both collegiate and high school teams for their submitted GPAs for the 2011-12 academic year.
