Brenna Morrissey begins her second year as an assistant coach for the MIT softball program in 2018. Morrissey came to MIT after spending the 2016 year as a varsity field hockey, ice hockey and softball coach at Buckingham, Browne and Nichols School in Cambridge, Mass.
Prior to her time at Buckingham, Browne and Nichols, Morrissey served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Harvard University softball team in 2014 and 2015. Before her time at Harvard, Morrissey had a very solid career as a middle infielder at Division I Georgia State University.
A 2013 graduate of the institution, Morrissey walked onto the team as a sophomore and went onto play in over 150 games at shortstop, second base and designated player. She was a 2011 All-CAA second-team honoree, while leading the Panthers to their first CAA conference championship. While at Georgia State, Morrissey also earned academic recognition on the Dean’s List/AD’s Honor Roll three times.
Prior to her arrival in Georgia, Morrissey played her freshman season at Assumption College in Worcester, Mass. She started in all 46 games at shortstop and was named to the All-Northeast 10 First Team and All-Northeast 10 Tournament First Team. Morrissey is an alumni of Lawrence Academy, in Groton, Mass., where she was a tri-varsity athlete after transferring from Salem High School.
Morrissey also serves as a Varsity Equipment Manager for DAPER and is responsible for 12 teams including field hockey, women's volleyball, men's cross country, women's cross country, men's volleyball, men's fencing, women's fencing, men's indoor track and field, women's indoor track and field, men's outdoor track and field, women's outdoor track and field and women's lacrosse.
Morrissey is originally from Salem, N.H.
