AS A FRESHMAN IN 2007-08: Added crucial depth the MIT's distance team, placing 13th in both the 500 and 1650 Free at NEWMACs. Her times in both earned her spots on the Institute Top-10 Times list, 8th in the 500 (5:22.34) and 7th in the 1650 (18:49.07). Also placed 18th in the 200 Free at NEWMACs with a time of 2:04.79. She also owns the 8th fastest time in school history in the 1000 Free (11:23.61), which she swam going out in the first 1000 of the mile at NEWMACs.
HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year letter-winner in swimming and water polo from Lyons Township High School, where she received Academic All-Conference accolades. MVP of the water polo team as a sophomore. Winner of the West Suburban Conference Leadership Award. Placed 4th in her conference in the 200 Free as a freshman and 7th at sectionals as a junior. Competed in Water Polo Junior Olympics in 2007. Captain of the swim team as a senior.
CLUB: Lyons Swim Club (1998-present), coached by Mike Laurich and Doug Eichstaedt; Western Springs Swim Club (1996-2006); Richport YMCA (1994-1997).
PERSONAL: Born September 13, 1989 to Capt. George and Dr. Kathie DeBoer...has a cat, a turtle, a bird, and four gerbils at home...has two older sisters, Julie and Jennifer...Julie is junior at Lawrence University and a member of the Cross-Country team...Jennifer was a member of the MIT Swimming and Diving team from 2001-2005, and also rowed and ran cross-country ...lists her proudest collegiate moment as swimming the 500 Free at the alumni meet as a relay with sister, Jen, without Coach Dawn noticing...A Course 9 (Brain and Cognitive Science) Major.
