WELLESLEY, Mass. – Freshman Lena Yang (East Stroudsburg, Pa.) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's Swimmer of the Week on Monday afternoon. In the fast-paced meet against Amherst College on Saturday, she walked away with two first place finishes and two seconds.
Yang was the anchor of the winning 200 yard medley relay that touched with a time of 1:47.89. She then went on to win the 100 yard freestyle in 53.71. She came second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.48 and led off the 400-yard freestyle relay that finished in second place with a 3:34.04.
MIT will participate in the Wheaton Invitational next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1-2. This will be the final meet that the Engineers will take part in until the NEWMAC Championship on Feb. 14-17.
