NORTON, Mass. - The women's swimming and diving team's season got off to a great start on Saturday, as it was victorious in the Batterman Relays, which were hosted by Wheaton College. The Cardinal and Gray won six of the 11 events in the competition on its way to a final score of 132. Tufts (108), Wheaton (100) and WPI (66) rounded out the rest of the field.
The team of Stephanie Sidelko, Ashley Pinchinat, Jackee Nowicke and Sasha Brophy posted a winning time of 4:58.09 in the 500 yard freestyle crescendo relay, while Rachel Price, Thornton and O'Keeffe finished almost 50 seconds better than the second-place time in the 1500 yard freestyle relay.
Priya Parayanthal was also part of a win, in the 200 yard butterfly relay.
"We performed exceptionally well today," said head coach Dawn Gerken. "We are in the heart of heavy training and the team stepped up and raced aggressively," she added.
The women's squad now has some time off before it returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 15, when it travels to Wellesley College at 7:00 p.m.
