MIT Finishes 11th in Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Rankings
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second year in a row MIT placed 11th among all Division III schools in the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA) annual Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup. The Engineers’ Institute-best finish once again registered as the highest performance by the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).

Lauren Quisenberry Receives All-America Accolades
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lauren Quisenberry’s outstanding rookie season continued with her selection to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Women’s All-America Team. By virtue of finishing the year in the top 20 of ITA Singles National Rankings, she collected MIT’s fourth straight All-America honor and sixth overall.

Quisenberry Ends Season at NCAA Singles Tourney
CLAREMONT, Calif. – Freshman Lauren Quisenberry ended a phenomenal rookie season on the MIT women’s tennis team by earning a trip to the NCAA Individual Singles Championships this week. The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Athlete and Rookie of the Year fought hard but fell in her first match of the tournament 7-5, 7-6 to Ellen Yeatman of Washington and Lee.

Women’s Tennis Wins ITA Sportsmanship Award, Sends Quisenberry to NCAA Tournament
SKILLMAN, N.J. – In a week full of good news, the MIT women’s tennis team found out Wednesday that freshman first singles player Lauren Quisenberry has been selected to compete in the NCAA Individual Singles Tournament. On Friday, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association named MIT the May recipients of the ITA National Team Sportsmanship Award.

Women’s Tennis Completes Perfect Spring Season
Hartford, Conn. – Sophomore Candace Wu teamed with fellow rookie Lauren Quisenberry (Corpus Christi, Texas) for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles and Julia Hsu earned the deciding point with a 7-6, 7-5 triumph at No. 3 singles to lead the visiting Massachusetts Institute of Technology Engineers in women's tennis action this afternoon at Assaiante Tennis Center. With the win, MIT improves to 11-0 on the spring season.

Women’s Tennis Collects Senior Day Victory
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – On a rainy Saturday afternoon, MIT women’s tennis won their tenth straight match, beating Simmons College 7-2 at JB Carr Tennis Bubble. MIT is ranked #27 in the country and #9 in the Northeast region, while Simmons is ranked #20 in the Northeast region. It was also Senior Day for MIT and Melissa Diskin, Jenny Dohlman, Jen Rees, and Sonya Makhni were honored during match introductions.

Women’s Tennis Gets by Judges to Extend Spring Streak
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT women’s tennis team won their ninth straight game on Wednesday afternoon by beating the Brandeis Judges 6-3. Despite a loss by its first doubles team, MIT was too much for the Judges at DuPont tennis courts in a marathon match that took six and a half hours to finish.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The MIT women's tennis team notched its eight consecutive spring victory on Sunday afternoon, beating another nationally ranked opponent. The 27th ranked Engineers beat the #29 Skidmore Thoroughbreds 6-3 in non-conference tennis action.

Women’s Tennis Takes Two Matches at Wellesley Invite
WELLESLEY, Mass. – MIT women’s tennis routed SUNY New Paltz 7-2 and then edged Wellesley 5-4 to sweep their matches at this weekend’s Wellesley Invitational tournament. MIT got points from their top two doubles and top two singles players in each of the matches to notch their fourth and fifth straight wins of the spring season.

Women’s Tennis Victorious in California
PASADENA, Calif. – MIT’s women’s tennis team showed no sign of jetlag in their cross-coast match against Mills College. The Engineers beat the Cyclones of Oakland, California 9-0 on Tuesday on the campus of Cal Tech. MIT dropped just six games all match, as both the first and second doubles teams swept their opponents in 8-0 pro-sets.

Quisenberry is NEWMAC Athlete, Rookie of the Year; Hsu Named All-Conference
Cambridge, Mass. – Lauren Quisenberry has received double honors in the 2010 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's tennis postseason awards. Quisenberry has been named the NEWMAC athlete of the year, earning her the number one singles spot on the All-Conference First Team. The freshman from Corpus Christi, Texas was also named NEWMAC Rookie of the Year in the vote by the eight women's tennis coaches from across the conference. Julia Hsu, the Engineer's second singles player, has been honored as well with a spot on the All-Conference second team.

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.-- The MIT Engineers women's tennis program had a strong fall season ended Saturday at the hands of Wellesley College. The Blue will play for their sixth New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference tournament title in seven years after advancing with a 5-2 win in the semi-finals over MIT on the campus of Smith College.

Amherst, Mass. – Katie O’Neal and Melissa Diskin reached the quarterfinals at the New England Women’s Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament this past weekend at Amherst College. The Engineer’s team competed in the Chris Davis B Flight of the tournament, which pits teams of two from different schools against each other in a bracket-style tournament.

CHICAGO, Ill. – The National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) recently announced its eighth annual Collegiate Power Rankings. Following another tremendous year, the Engineers were listed fourth overall in securing their highest ranking in the history of the report. The NCSA Athletic Recruiting’s Collegiate Power Rankings assess the academic and athletics standards of all NCAA athletic programs across the country. The Power Rankings were developed to help prospective student athletes and their families evaluate the particular strengths of the top colleges and universities at the Division I, II and III levels.

The Pioneers fell to 0-1 in the first contest of the season for the two NEWMAC schools.
