Women’s Tennis Rolls to Victory Over Colby
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Lauren Quisenberry won at first singles and teamed with Candace Wu to win at first doubles to lead MIT to a 7-2 win over Colby College in non-conference women's tennis Saturday.
Quisenberry stayed perfect on the season with a 6-1, 6-2 win at first singles, while Wu defeated Tess Perese at second singles 6-4, 6-3.
Perese was part of a third doubles team that collected one of Colby's two points. Teamed with Kathryn Vergeyle, she defeated Melissa Diskin and Katie O'Neal 8-4. O'Neal got a point back by defeating Mckenzie Love in three sets at fifth singles (6-1, 4-6, 7-5). Julia Hsu and Bianca Dumitrascu each won in singles and together took care of Sally Holmes and Sarah Wiener 8-4 in second doubles.
MIT improves to 2-0 on the spring season and will prepare to travel to Los Angeles, California for a spring break trip. Colby falls to 0-5 on the season and will also make a spring break trip, to Orlando, Florida.
