MIT Women’s Tennis Fall Schedule Set
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Fall is conference season for the women's tennis team at MIT and the Engineers are set to begin competition for the 2012-13 season the weekend after Labor Day. MIT, which finished the 2011-12 season tied for No. 30 in the final ITA rankings of the season, will open the fall portion of its 2012-13 season at home when it hosts Assumption College at September 8. The home schedule will also feature the prestigious ITA New England Regional Championships being played in Cambridge in late September.
MIT will open New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference play on Sept. 15 when it travels to Springfield College. After a non-conference match against local rival Tufts University on Sept. 20, the Engineers will return home and to conference play when they host Mount Holyoke College on Sept. 22.
From Sept. 28-30, MIT will host the ITA New England Regional Championships that will feature the top players in Division III from around the New England area. It will then be back to NEWMAC action for the Engineers, who will be on the road for their first three matches in October, traveling to defending conference champion Wellesley College before moving on to Clark University and Babson College in the first week of the month.
After an appearance at the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament at Amherst College from Oct. 12-14, MIT will close out the regular season NEWMAC schedule with home dates against Wheaton College on Oct. 16 and Smith College on Oct. 20. MIT will close out the fall portion of its schedule with the NEWMAC Championships that start October 27.
