CLAREMONT, Calif. – After winning a pair of matches yesterday at the 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Singles Tennis Championships, freshman Elysa Kohrs (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) was defeated in the quarterfinals of the tournament today in California.
After winning her first two matches on Thursday, including upsetting the No. 8 seed, Kohrs had the task of taking on No. 1 seed Gabrielle Clark of Emory University. Clark, who helped Emory win the team title on Wednesday, held off Kohrs upset bid with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Kohrs, the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Rookie of the Year, finished her outstanding first season with All-America honors and a 21-8 singles record.
