Engineers Defeat Brandeis, 6-3

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. - MIT finished regular season dual-match competition by defeating Brandeis University, 6-3, on Wednesday. The Engineers now stand at 7-2 on the year.

At No. 1 doubles, Elaine Ni and Joanna MacKay fell, 8-3. Serena Lin and Mariah Hoover picked up an 8-4 win while the No. 3 tandem of Jaclyn Cichon and Zandile Williams posted a victory with the same margin.

In singles action, Lin dropped only her second match of the season, falling by a score of 6-1, 6-3. Jaclyn Cichon lost in the No. 2 spot, 6-2, 6-1. Ni earned a 6-2, 6-3 win while Hoover defeated her opponent, 6-3, 6-1. In MacKay's No. 5 singles match, she won the first set, 6-4. She lost the next one, 4-6, but bookended the match with another 6-4 victory. Jusleen Karve had the final win for Tech, emerging with a 6-4, 7-5 score.

This weekend MIT will be competing in the NEWITT Tournament as a final tune-up before the NEWMAC Championship Tournament.
