Oct. 31, 2007

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its 2007 Women's Tennis All-Conference Team on Tuesday. Regular season and tournament champions Wellesley College led the way with five First-Team and three Second-Team selections as league runner-up MIT followed with three First-Team and four Second-Team honors.

Senior co-captain Mariah Hoover closed the Fall slate as MIT's most decorated women's tennis player, finishing her career with eight All-Conference awards. She was named to the First Team for No. 1 doubles and the Second Team for No. 3 singles. Last season's Rookie of the Year, Leslie Hansen followed up this performance by becoming MIT's first Athlete of the Year recipient. She bolstered her awards total with First-Team accolades for No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles.

The Engineers' No. 2 doubles tandem of Anisa McCree and Liz Denys were voted to the First Team. McCree was also tabbed for her first singles award as she was a Second-Team selection in the No. 6 spot. Yi Wang collected Second-Team accolades in the No. 4 position while Melissa Diskin received a Second-Team No. 5 singles nod.
