BABSON PARK, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its women's tennis post-season awards on Tuesday. Wellesley, the 2004 Conference Champions, led the way with six total selections, while MIT copped five honors.
Wheaton College sophomore Ashley Kriwinsky was named First Team All-NEWMAC at No. 1 singles. Wellesley's Jenna Mezin was the Second Team selection at No. 1 singles and also captured the league's Rookie of the Year award.
The Engineers had one First Team selection in the rookie doubles tandem of Mariah Hoover and Serena Lin. Hoover also earned a spot at No. 5 singles on the Second Team, while Elaine Ni (No. 3), Emily Chen (No. 4) and Joanna MacKay (No. 6) garnered selections alongside Hoover on the Second Team.
Christine Franek, who led Wellesley to the conference crown, was named NEWMAC Coach of the Year.
