  • Lauren Kuntz and Jaclyn Konopka Tabbed to Capital One Academic All-America Team

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - For the second consecutive year, two student-athletes on the MIT women's track and field team were named to the Capital One Academic All-America team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Tuesday afternoon. Senior Lauren Kuntz (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was named to the first team and junior Jaclyn Konopka (Novi, Mich.) was tabbed to the second team.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Three members of the MIT women’s outdoor track and field team were named to the Capital One Academic All-District One team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday afternoon. Senior Lauren Kuntz (Pittsburgh, Pa.), junior Jaclyn Konopka (Novi, Mich.) and sophomore Dacie Manion (Old Town, Maine) will represent MIT on the national ballot and will vie for Academic All-America honors to be voted on next month.

    BABSON PARK, Mass. – MIT senior Lauren Kuntz (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was selected as the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Woman of the Year honoree at the conference’s annual meetings on Wednesday. Kuntz, the 2013 NEWMAC pole vault champion, will be put forward as the conference’s representative for the NCAA Woman of the Year award and will be considered for selection as one of the top candidates from each of the NCAA’s three divisions.

    LA CROSSE, Wis. - On the third and final day of competition at the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday evening, the MIT women's track and field team were represented by just two athletes. Senior Brooke Johnson (Shoreham, N.Y.) and freshman Sarah Quinn (Watchung. N.J.) competed in the 1500m before Johnson raced in the 5000m later that night.
  • MIT Women's Track & Field Wraps up First Day of NCAAs

    LA CROSSE, Wis. - Seven members of the MIT women's track and field team made the trip to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will run through Saturday, May 25. After the first day of competition, the Engineers are currently in tenth place with six points, scored solely by sophomore Elaine McVay's (San Ramon, Calif.) impressive performance in the 10,000m.
  • Eight Engineers Prepare for 2013 NCAA Championships

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – It was announced on Sunday that seven members of the MIT women’s track and field team have qualified for the 2013 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Engineers will be making the trip to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for the Championships that will take place from Thursday through Saturday, May 23-25.
  • Engineers Finish Tied for Fourth at ECACs

    SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – MIT women’s track and field continued to fight on the second day of the ECAC Division III Championships at Springfield College on Friday afternoon, wrapping up the meet tied for fourth with Ithaca College with 51 points and improving on last year's eighth place finish. Two different Engineers broke MIT records over the weekend, while one improved on her own record.

    EASTON, Mass. - On the final day of competition at the New England Outdoor Championships at Stonehill College, the MIT women's outdoor track and field team came in 13th place with 20.5 points. The Engineers finished just ahead of Amherst College, who had 20 points, and right behind Sacred Heart and Quinnipiac, who tied for 11th place, with 23 points.

    EASTON, Mass. - Only two members of the MIT women's track and field team competed at the New England Outdoor Championships that are being held at Stonehill College from Thursday through Saturday, May 9-11. Sophomores Ashley Wheeler (Milford, N.H.) and Tilly Taylor (South Deerfield, Mass.) were the lone Engineers to travel to Easton for the meet.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A league-leading 60 athletes represented MIT on the 2013 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Spring Academic All-Conference Team. The Engineers finished the year with a conference-high 145 selections, followed by WPI with 101.

    WATERVILLE, Maine - On the final day of competition at the New England Division III Championships at Colby College on Saturday afternoon, the MIT women's outdoor track and field team finished in first place with 126.50 points, leaving a sizeable gap between them and second place-finishing Tufts University with 93 points. The Engineers, who finished in second place last year behind Williams College, moved up two places from yesterday to take the win.

    WATERVILLE, Maine – The MIT women's track and field team traveled to Maine for the New England Division III Championships that were held at Colby College on Thursday through Sunday. Competition for the women officially opened on Friday afternoon with the heptathlon. The Engineers wrapped up the day in third place with 16 points, behind Worcester State University with 20 and Tufts University with 23 points.

Colby College was second with 160.5, Bates College was third with 158, the University of Southern Maine was fourth with 89.5 and Husson University was fifth with 37 points.

The Engineers, who were 18th in last week's poll, started off being ranked 20th in the preseason poll from March.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - At its first home meet of the outdoor season, the MIT women's track and field team finished first at the Engineer's Cup with a score of 201 points. WPI was second with 110 points and RPI was third with 86. Nine different Engineers took first place in various events, as did the 4x100 relay and the 4x400 relay.

    SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The MIT women's outdoor track and field team officially opened its season at the Westmont Collegiate Classic on Saturday. As a team, the Engineers finished in third place with 60.5 points, behind host Westmont with 73 and La Verne with 74.5. Senior Lauren Kuntz (Pittsburgh, Pa.) won the pole vault and broke the stadium record with her vault of 12-11.50.

    NAPERVILLE, Ill. - To conclude the indoor season, seven members of the No. 8 nationally-ranked MIT women's track and field team traveled to North Central College for the NCAA Division III Championship that will take place on Friday and Saturday. The Engineers, who finished in 26th place at last year's NCAA championship, wrapped up the meet tied for 13th place with Keene State College with 15 points.

They finished behind fellow NEWMAC institution, Wheaton College in seventh and above Ramapo College, who were ninth.
