MIT Women's Track & Field in Fourth After First Day of ECACs
NEW YORK, N.Y. - The MIT women's track and field team wrapped up the first day of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship at the New York City Armory on Friday in fourth place out of 34 teams with 15 points, just one point behind Moravian College.
Senior Lauren Kuntz (Pittsburgh, Pa.) started things off with a fourth place finish in the pole vault with her vault of 12-00.00, earning five points towards the Engineers' final score. In the triple jump, sophomore Michelle Johnson (Glendora, Calif.) came 15th after jumping 34-11.00.
In the final event of the day, the pentathlon, junior Jaclyn Konopka (Novi, Mich.) came in first place with 3,432 points, setting a new MIT record. Peyton Dostie of the University of Southern Maine finished second with 3,241 points.
MIT will return to the track tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. with the women's weight throw.
