MIT's Lauren Kuntz Named NEWMAC Field Athlete of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Lauren Kuntz (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Athlete of the Week after she opened the outdoor season in California this weekend with a win and a new record when she vaulted a 12-11.50. This comes less than a month after she finished in second place at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in the same event, clearing the bar in 12-07.50.

MIT fared well at the Westmont Collegiate Classic, finishing in third place out of seven teams with 60.5 points. Freshman Sarah Quinn (Watchung, N.J.) performed well, coming first in the 1500m with a 4:32.82, crossing the line 12 seconds ahead of the rest of the competition.

MIT will host its first meet of the season, the Engineer's Cup, on Saturday, April 6 at noon, welcoming WPI and RPI to campus.
