BOSTON, Mass. Much like its male counterpart, the MIT women's outdoor track and field team was picked to repeat as New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) champions, receiving all nine first-place votes in the conference's preseason poll that was released on Friday. Tech, who has claimed the NEWMAC title for the past five years, was followed by Wheaton College in second and Springfield College in third, who took second and third respectively at the 2013 NEWMAC Championships.

At last year's conference championships, Tech ended up with 228.5 points, leaving a gap of 80 points between it and Wheaton. Six different student-athletes won individual events and the Engineers earned a total of 14 NEWMAC All-Conference nods for finishing in either first or second place in their events.

MIT's outdoor season will begin on March 22, when the Cardinal and Gray travel to Westfield State College for the Jerry Gravel Classic.
