McPhillips, Trautner Leads No. 3 MIT on Day Two at NCAA's

THE BASICS:

- Location: Birmingham CrossPlex (Birmingham, Ala.)

- The Lead: Led by All-American performances by sophomores Marissa McPhillips (Narragansett, R.I.) and Margaret Trautner (Houston, Texas), the No. 3 ranked MIT women's track and field team placed 11th overall out of 62 teams with 19 points at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship. Over the two-day event, the Engineers picked up 10 All-American honors.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- In the final of the mile, McPhillips crossed the final in fifth with a time of 4:58.75 to start the day off for MIT. McPhillips ran a time of 4:57.45 on Saturday to advance to the final.

- In the 800 meters, Trautner earned the All-American honor after she finished eighth on the day in a time of 2:17.47. Trautner ran the No. 6 seed time in the prelims as she crossed in 2:13.64 on Friday afternoon.
