Westwood, Mass. (March 26) -- MIT senior Hannah Chen (Los Gatos, Calif.) has been named as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Athlete of the Week for her performance at the California Collegiate Open in San Diego. The Engineers, currently ranked fourth in the nation in the USTFCCCA Top 25 Poll, finished eighth out of 17 teams with a total of 29 points.
Chen, a six-time All-American and three-time All-American in the 400-meter hurdles, posted the No. 3 mark in the country on Saturday as she finished fifth overall in a time of 1:02.31 against a number of Division I athletes.
MIT is back in action next weekend as the Engineers travel to the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton University on Friday, April 6th, along with at quad-meet on Saturday, April 7th with Bates, RPI and Tufts that will take place at Tufts.
