Eccles, 4x400 Relay Earn NEWMAC Women's Weekly Honors

Westwood, Mass. (April 9) -- MIT senior Mary Eccles (Wahaiwa, Hawaii) has been named as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Track Athlete of the Week, while the 4x400 relay team earned Relay Team of the Week honors.

Eccles earned her first weekly award of the year after running a PR of 17:09.62 in the 5,000 meters to finish second overall and post the No. 7 time in the country.

In the 4x400 relay, the team of junior Kristen Frombach (Lumberton, N.J.), sophomore Marissa McPhillips (Narragansett, R.I.), sophomore Skylar Brooks (Morgantown, W. Va.) and junior Bailey Tregoning (Frederick, Md.) won the event in a time of 4:04.26. The team had a 2.1-second margin of victory and is ranked No. 20 in the country with the time.

The No. 10 ranked Engineers are back in action on Saturday, April 14th as the team travels to the Dick Farley Invite at Williams College.
