WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The women's track team won two events and placed second on Saturday at the Williams College Quad meet. Finishing first was host Williams (288), followed by MIT (122.50), Westfield State (78.50) and RPI (61). The Williams College Ephs, led by two-event winners Caroline Cretti and Katie Fulton, lost only three events all day.
Junior Christine Fanchiang was MIT's lone individual winner on Saturday. She cleared 3.23 meters in the pole vault. The Engineers other victory came in the 4x880 relay. Junior Hana Adaniya, freshman Adrienne Bolger, junior Rachel Niehuus and freshman Elizabeth Finn finished the course in just 10:12.03, well ahead of second place Williams (10:49.59).
MIT's Finn was also impressive in the one-mile run. She finished second (5:22.16) behind only Williams' Caroline Cretti, who broke the Field House record with a time of 5:03.17.
The Engineers are back in action on January 28 when they travel to Brunswick, Maine to face Bowdoin College. The competition will begin at 12:30 p.m.
