CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The women's track team hosted the Coed Invitational on Saturday. Junior Christine Fanchiang was victorious in the pole vault and the 55 meter hurdles for the Engineers. Freshman Emily Repak moved into the school record books with new personal bests in both the long and triple jump.

Fanchiang set personal bests in both events, with a time of 7.75 seconds in the 55 meter dash and a mark of 11'1" in the pole vault. Her vault mark was the third best in MIT program history and exactly met the NCAA provisional standard.

Freshman Emily Repak established personal bests in the long jump (16'3") and triple jump (33' 1/4"). Her mark in the long jump moved her to fifth on MIT's all-time list, while her triple jump was good enough for fourth all-time.

Sophomore Karen Condon placed second in the one mile run with a time of 5:33.48. In the 1000 meter run, senior Betsy Eames finished second.

The Engineers also got a solid performance from sophomore Aline Thomas. Her mark of 36-05.25 was good enough for third place in the shot put. In the weight throw, she earned second place with a toss of 44-03.25.

The women travel to Northampton, Mass. on Saturday, February 18 for the New England Division III Championship. The competition will begin at 12:00 p.m.
