CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The MIT women's track and field team finished 40th out of 50 squads as it closed its 2005 outdoor campaign at the ECAC Championships this past weekend in Springfield, Mass. Julia Espel led the Engineers with a sixth-place performance in the 3,000 steeplechase finishing in 11:30.72 while Alisha Schor placed ninth in the same event with a time of 11:49.18. Meri Silberstein recorded a leap of 17'1" in the long jump for an eighth-place ranking.
In the 10,000, Gwen Johnson was 12th (40:29.70) while Nancy Benedetti was 17th (42:01.20). Aline Thomas' toss of 139'5.5" in the hammer throw was good for 12th place. In the javelin, Chi-Fong Wang finished 15th with a distance of 110'11.5". MIT's 4x400 relay team clocked a time of 4:04.63 to finish 14th.
