May 19, 2009

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT coach Halston Taylor was named the New England Women’s Track and Field Coach of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday. Taylor had previously received the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Track & Field Coach of the Year award earlier this year.

Under Coach Taylor’s guidance, the Engineers captured the first New England Division III Outdoor Championship in program history. That win followed up Tech’s first-place finish at the New England Division III Indoor meet earlier this year. Taylor also helped MIT capture its second NEWMAC Championship in three years.

Taylor will lead the Cardinal and Grey at the upcoming NCAA Division III Championship, hosted by Marietta College. The meet begins on Thursday morning and runs through Saturday.
