Amy Magnuson Picks Up Second Straight Academic All-America Nod

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Amy Magnuson was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America First Team for Women's Track & Field and Cross Country as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Friday. Magnuson, who was a Third Team selection a year ago, is MIT's 11th Academic All-American this year, tying the Institute record set during the 2007-08 campaign. Tech's all-time total is now at 156, the highest among all Division III programs.
Magnuson collected a pair of All-America honors this season, finishing third in the 55m hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Championship and fourth in the 100m hurdles at the Outdoor meet. The junior was the New England Division III champion in those same events while helping the Engineers capture both the Indoor and Outdoor New England Division III team titles for the first time in program history. Magnuson has also earned five New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference nods and holds the Institute record in five different events.
