Barden Cleeland Cops NEWMAC Player of the Week Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Barden Cleeland was voted the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week after powering the Engineers to a pair of wins and averaging 2.83 kills, a .519 hitting percentage, 0.83 digs, 0.67 aces, and 0.33 blocks per game. She became the third MIT player to earn this honor this season.

Cleeland posted nine kills, a .438 hitting performance, four digs, two blocks, and an ace in a pivotal 3-1 win at Wellesley. She then compiled eight kills, a .636 hitting percentage, and three aces in a sweep of Mount Holyoke. Cleeland’s two-set kill total versus the Lyons put her over the 1,000-kill mark, making her the ninth player in program history to reach this milestone and the second this season.
