MIT Sweeps Smith in NEWMAC Action
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In its second
conference match of the week, the MIT women’s volleyball team
topped Smith College, 25-23, 25-17, 25-19, on Saturday. With the
win, the Engineers improved to 8-2 on the year and 2-0 in the New
England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference
(NEWMAC).
Kelly Schulte had a solid outing, tallying 11 kills, a .625 hitting
percentage, five digs, three aces, and two blocks. Alex May paced
the Cardinal and Gray with 13 kills to go along with a .370 hitting
performance, nine digs, and two aces. Trinity Leonard recorded five
kills in two sets as Katie Spielbauer collected eight digs. Alyssa
Rothman compiled 33 assists, nine digs, and two blocks while Cathy
Melnikow posted seven digs.
