Women’s Volleyball to Participate in Dig Pink Event

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – On Saturday, Sept. 17 the MIT women's volleyball team will join the Side-Out Foundation (Side-Out) in its effort to unite volleyball players and coaches in working towards the common goal of furthering breast cancer awareness, education and patient services. All fans are asked to wear pink and donations will be accepted at the door. The Engineers, currently 9-0 this season, will host NEWMAC rival Clark University and local foe Simmons College in a tri-match beginning at 11:00 a.m.

The term side-out refers to a situation in volleyball when one team wins a point while its opponent is serving, thereby regaining serve or control of play. It is hoped that this Side-Out will do the same for breast cancer patients, providing them with the support, education and best available treatments to regain control of their lives.
