LEXINGTON, Ky. – The MIT women's volleyball team saw senior Kristine Bunker (Falmouth, Mass.) and junior Nicole Gagnier (Atlanta, Ga.) become first-time honorees by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Thursday with their placement on the Division III New England All-Region Team.
Earlier in the week, Bunker earned her second consecutive NEWMAC All-Conference first team award. Voted the top middle hitter in the region, she is 15th in the nation in hitting percentage (.374) while leading the NEWMAC in the same category. Bunker closes her career ranked fourth all-time at MIT in blocks (350), fifth in hitting percentage (.320), and tied for sixth in career blocks per set (0.82).
An honorable mention selection, Gagnier paces the NEWMAC in assists (1,137) and assists per set (9.89). Her setting performance this season stands 10th all-time at MIT and she currently ranks seventh in career assists (2,164).
