NEW LONDON, N.H. – The awards haul continues for the MIT women's volleyball team with a pair of announcements from the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) on Thursday. Senior Kristine Bunker (Falmouth, Mass.) secured a spot on the All-New England second team while being joined by classmate Tatiana Berger (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) as selections for the NEWVA Senior Classic.
Bunker was recognized by NEWVA for the first time in her career as the Engineers received accolades for the second straight season. During the past two weeks, she was tabbed for NEWMAC All-Conference first team, AVCA New England All-Region and All-America honorable mention plaudits.
Berger, a NEWMAC All-Conference second-team pick, finished the season ranking fifth in the league in kills (323) and sixth in kills per set (3.02). During her four-year career, she tallied 788 kills, 461 digs, 91 blocks, and 90 aces.
The NEWVA Senior Classic, comprised of New England's top 32 Division III senior volleyball players, will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8 at UMass Boston. The event will feature a skills competition prior to the afternoon's all-star match.
