Cambridge, Mass. (July 3) – The MIT women's volleyball team has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2017 season, which will feature 14 home matches.
For the second time in three years the Engineers will kick off their season at the two-day Mustang Tournament beginning on Saturday, Sept. 2 at Morrisville State College. MIT's home opener will be the following week when it hosts the MIT Invitational on Friday, Sept. 8 and Saturday, Sept. 9. The Engineers continue their home stand on Tuesday, Sept. 12 with their first NEWMAC match which will be against NCAA regional finalist Springfield College. Another highlight on the schedule will be the New England Challenge to be held at Williams College on October 20-21. In addition to playing the Ephs, the Engineers will square off with Middlebury College, a 2016 NCAA Tournament qualifier, and Tufts University, which advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals last year.
MIT posted a 29-5 overall record in 2016, captured the program's fifth NEWMAC Championship, and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Paul Dill, the 2016 NEWMAC Coach of the Year, returns for his 22nd season at the helm and will be joined by AVCA All-Region selection junior Abby Bertics (La Jolla, Calif.) along with NEWMAC All-Conference pick senior Alli Davanzo (St. Johns, Fla.).
