Engineers Defeat Gordon in Three Sets

- The Lead: MIT blanked Gordon College, 25-20, 25-16, 25-20, in non-conference women's volleyball action on Wednesday night. Junior Abby Bertics (La Jolla, Calif.) powered the Engineers with a match-high 16 kills to go along with a .353 hitting performance.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Senior Lisette Tellez (Miami, Fla.) tallied 10 digs, seven kills, and three aces while junior Carly Staub (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.) contributed seven kills to MIT's attack. Freshman Andie Maloney (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) produced 31 assists and nine digs as junior Carly Silvernale (Bellevue, Wash.) led all players with 12 digs. Senior Alli Davanzo (Saint Johns, Fla.) rounded out the defense with a match-high three blocks.

UP NEXT:

- MIT returns to action on Friday, Sept. 8 for the start of the two-day MIT Invitational. The Engineers will square off with Roger Williams University at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and then play Endicott College (12:00 p.m.) and No. 15 La Verne University (4:00 p.m.) on Saturday.
