
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Samantha Lampert, currently in her sixth season as an assistant coach with MITs mens and womens volleyball teams, was a recipient of the Rick Pierce Award which was presented by the Yankee Volleyball Association this past weekend. Named in his memory, the award is given annually to one man and one woman who exemplify the characteristics that made Pierce so special: great sportsmanship, a respected player, and a person who volunteers their time to the sport without need for compensation or recognition. CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Alex May made history for the MIT womens volleyball program by being voted to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Volleyball First Team. With her selection, May became the first player in the programs history to earn multiple Academic All-America accolades as she was a Third-Team pick last year. In addition, May is only the second person to represent the Engineers on the First Team; former teammate Amanda Morris 08 accomplished this feat in 2007. READ MORE
