CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Following a 3-1 week for MIT that featured a first-place finish at the MIT Quad Tournament, junior outside hitter Alex May was selected the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week. The honor is her first this season and the second in her career.
May tallied six kills, five digs, two aces, and one block in a sweep of conference foe WPI. She recorded 12 kills, a .357 hitting performance, eight digs, and three blocks in the Engineers' 3-0 win over WNEC. May compiled 24 kills, a .327 hitting percentage, 16 digs, 16 service receptions, and four blocks in a 3-1 victory versus Saint Mary's College (Ind.). She wrapped up the tournament with 20 kills, 12 digs, three blocks, and 27 service receptions as MIT fell, 3-2, to Millikin University. For the week, May averaged 4.13 kills, 2.73 digs, 0.73 blocks, a .277 hitting percentage, and a .979 serve receive percentage.
